Dos

• Do make sure that all walls have been taped, spackled and sealed to   eliminate air leaks, especially where electrical outlets, switch plates,   thermostats, and light fixtures are placed.
• Do allow sufficient time during installation to cure a fabric on site.
• Do place handles or push plates on high-traffic fabric-covered doors.
• Do weather strip fabric-covered doors that access stairwells.
• Rounded outside corners—contrary to square corners—remain much   cleaner because they endure less abuse.

And Don'ts

• Don’t permit air to blow directly onto a fabric-covered wall.
• Don’t create a fabric-covered wall directly under an air-conditioning discharge  grille because it will become soiled.
• Don’t locate the return-air slot or the air feed directly onto or over a   fabric-covered wall. Locate it elsewhere.

Maintenance instructions for all fabric-covered panel systems

• Vacuum all walls monthly. Use a standard vacuum cleaner with a head   normally used to clean carpets and upholstery. Do not use a brush   attachment except on pile fabrics.
• If spots or stains occur, use a dry cleaner’s spotting brush. Never use a   cleaning solvent until every effort has been made to brush or   brush-and-steam out the spot.
• If spots cannot be removed, contact a professional cleaner who should   attempt a cleaning with traditional solvents and stem. If solvents are   required, lean the entire wall to keep a uniform color and avoid watermarks.
• In case of a cut or tear in the fabric, lift free the entire wall, and hire a local   tailor or weaver, who repairs clothing burns, to mend the cut or the tear   on-site. A normal tear can be repaired within a single day.
• A regular maintenance program initiated at the earliest possible time after   tenant occupancy will go far toward preventing soil buildup and staining of a   fabric-wall surface. Extra vacuuming and preventative maintenance is   necessary when a fabric area is adjacent to air-conditioning feeds or   air-return vents.
• A professional should use cleaning solvents only as a last resort. After   cleaning a spot on a wall, the nap of the fabric is sometimes lifted. In many   cases, shaving the fabric with an electric razor will restore it.
• Technical assistance and service is available from a StretchWall   Installations authorized dealer for the proper maintenance of your fabric   walls.
